Introduction

Changing the voice is what makes Voicemod users have fun and therefore more engaged using the app. Main case of use is while they play games but there is a problem we face as users have to switch between the game and the app to change to another voice.

We developed an MVP of an in game overlay but data was not showing any relevant improvement on engagement neither retention metrics while uninstalls were increasing day by day.

This case study shows the journey towards an improved overlay.

Challenge and objectives

First of all we needed to understand what the initial perception of the MVP was from a user perspective in order to obtain insights on how the users want for the V1:

How did we do it

Usability test & interviews

We interviewed and conducted usability tests with 10 new Voicemod users based in the USA while they were playing one of the TOP 5 games connected with Voicemod.

Survey with our partner Overwolf users

Voicemod users were not the only point of view we wanted to take into account. Our partner Overwolf helped us sending a survey to their beta testers. We took feedback from 150 of their users (85% did not know Voicemod before the survey). This perspective was really useful, not just for the overlay itself but also for the Voicemod first time experience.
